Welcome to Apple Country
Hi Plains Orchards Open 7 days a week! Monday-Saturday 9 am - 6 pm, Sunday till 4 pm Pick your own fun at our 6,000 tree apple orchard! West Texas breezes carry the fresh smell of 6,000 apple trees to
visitors at Apple country, where apples can be picked from the trees or
purchased from the Apple Country store. Much more is awaiting the
visitor from our unique gift shop, to the bakery and our country café.
Designed as a pick-your-own operation, the 29 year old orchard is comprised of 30 varieties of apples. Not only do the apples beat store prices, but tree-ripened apples simply taste better. Our West Texas climate allows apple growers a longer growing season and a more flavorful apple.
One of the most pleasurable aspects of Apple Country is the people who visit us here. Visitors come from the West Texas area, from other states, and from overseas. Extended families come to see us. Children bring their parents and grandparents. And lovely couples tie the knot and say "I do" in our wedding Gazebo !!! All enjoy this special time together. Please take time to join us and learn more about Apple Country. ***********************************

************************************* CSA - Community Supported Agriculture, 2012 email sbrints@applecountryorchards.com for our CSA Brochure What is CSA?The community supports the operation of the farm through the purchase of shares of this year’s harvest, thus, the term Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). The purchase can be as small as a half share or a number of shares. Each week a share of the harvest is provided to the shareholders. What it means to you is that you know where and how your food is grown. It is grown without the use of pesticides by a local gardener on land within our community. In return for a commitment from you, your grower will provide you and your family with a variety of fresh produce from approximately June through September.
THROUGH COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE YOU CAN ENSURE THAT: 1. Produce is grown using sustainable methods. 2. Produce is grown locally. 3. Produce is vine ripened. 4. You know who is growing your food and how it is being grown, reestablishing the connection to your food source. SHARE IN THE HARVEST
A full share of the fruit and vegetable harvest is calculated to average approximately 10 pounds of fruits and vegetables per week.
Shares are picked up weekly at Apple Country located 4 miles east of Idalou on Hwy 62 or at the Apple Country Farmers Market at 19th and Ave A. Any shares not claimed within two days of harvest will be forfeited for donation to the South Plains Food Bank.
